Obituary

Dewey Warren Combs was born July 19, 1936, in Wesley, Arkansas, to Tommie and Edith Velma Glenn Combs.

He died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, in Skiatook, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years. Dewey was reared and

educated in Springdale, Arkansas, and graduated with the Springdale High School Class of 1953.

He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Air Force.

He was married July 18, 1962, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Dorthia Mae Parham.

Dewey spent most of his working life as a computer hardware installation manager with SABRE,

a subsidiary of American Airlines. He was a faithful member of Discovery Bible Fellowship in Collinsville, Oklahoma.

He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including hunting, fishing, gardening, or anything that involved being outdoors.

He also enjoyed ranching and working cattle on the farm. Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories

include:
Two daughters; Larissa Wood, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and Sharon Bard and husband Fairen,

of Oilton, Oklahoma.
Six grandchildren; Logan Wood, Rachel Wood, Savanna Wood, Gideon Wood, Mendy Applegate,

and Wendy Schroedter.
One great granddaughter; Cameron Bailey Schroedter
His caregiver, Christi Couch
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorthia, grandson, Russell Brian Applegate, granddaughter,

Misty Louise Applegate, and son Bob Applegate.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017, at Discovery Bible Fellowship with Pastor Mike Frantz officiating.

Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com

ODCA Spring Meeting 2016

Brody Johnson of Collinsville, Ok hosted.

Minutes from ODCA meeting April 23, 2016:
Lunch was the first order of the day, Brody Johnson gave the blessing.

We were served Dexter burgers, hot dogs, and lots of sides furnished by ODCA members.
Bruce ?? OSU Agriculture Educator (Ag Agent) gave a talk about the pros of having smaller cattle,

and producing more light weight calves instead of fewer heavy weight calves.We also had a discussionabout fertilizing pasture land, and the benefits.
Debra Hawkins addressed the group: first a happy birthday wish to Rick, then notice that all AGM info must be in by May 15, 2016 deadline.
The Tulsa State Fair Dexter show will be held Sept 1, 2016. That is on Saturday with the Dexters being on display from Sept 28 until after the show.

The sponsor sheet for the Tulsa State Fair was passed around with almost all classes sponsored.
Debra said the OYE had a great showing and that she had talked to the judges about judging Dexters and possible learning a little bit about the breed.
Brody Johnson gave the financial report, said we have $3040.00 available funds at this time.
Joe Reynolds discussed the need for more heifers in the program. He ask P.J. Breedlove about a heifer she has for sale and there was discussion about buying the heifer.  A motion was made by Joe Reynolds to purchase the calf from P.J. Breedlove and the motion was seconded by Don Farris.  We also discussed the conditions for receiving a heifer, including that the animal must be shown at least 4 times minimum, during the year.
There was discussion about sponsoring a class or buckle for the AGM, motion was made by P.J. Breedlove, 2nd Danielle Hawkins
Meeting was adjourned.
